ABOUT DAVE

35 years behind the camera, a lifetime on the water.

I've been a professional photographer for over 35 years, with a deep connection to island life. I grew up with the beach as my playground and still surf most days to stay grounded — that same rhythm shows up in how I approach photography. When I'm not behind the camera I’ll be surfing, cooking or working in the yard.

My Journey

Photography runs in the family — my grandfather's brother spent 41 years as the University of Hawaiʻi's photographer, and he always encouraged me to pick up a camera. It was a mentor, Homer Parrish, who really sparked it: he taught me to see light, and I've been chasing it ever since.

Family and Community

My wife Michelle, our kids Ryan, Claire, Sam, and Kyle, and our growing group of grandkids keep me grounded and grateful. I also love giving back through my work with Adult Friends for Youth, Make-A-Wish Hawaiʻi., and Dreams Come True
